Once HIFIS 4 is launched, your Legal Support no longer needs to play a significant role. Their main responsibilities included getting appropriate legal documents in place, and they should now be in place.
However, that isn't to say that there is nothing for them to do. It's a good idea to ensure that you can access Legal Support in the future, but this is generally something that will happen rarely, and then in response to particular inquiries or events.
Post-launch, your Legal Support may be called on for:
- Responding to a request for information, either by a client or a third party
- Responding to a PIPEDA compliance challenge, or similar
- Advising when there is a change in the data you want to collect (i.e. you expand and want to begin collecting photos of your clients, or their health information)
- Assisting when a new partner agency is onboarded, or an existing partner agency's contract is terminated
- Advising what steps to take when there is a data breach
