This course is divided into 4 terms, for a total duration of approximately 6 months. It’s a long period of time, but only demands a few hours of your time each week, leaving you plenty of time to meet with your colleagues and work on implementing what you’re learning.
Each term is broken down into sections, and each section contains one or more lessons that are covered over the period of one week. Mostly, these lessons contain content that you can complete at any time during the week, but some sections include a group seminar in which you and the other students in the course can get together for a live, interactive presentation and Q&A.
An overview of the topics covered in each term is as follows:
A six-week course for communities at the earliest stages of HIFIS 4 pre-implementation. Covers planning and needs assessment, IT & legal requirements, consent and the basics of data collection.
An eight-week course for communities at the intermediate stages of HIFIS 4 pre-implementation. Covers HIFIS 4 modules, data sharing, rights and rights templates, user accounts, and user acceptance testing.
A six-week course for communities approaching HIFIS 4 launch. Covers configuring your HIFIS 4 software and fine-tuning all the remaining details.
A four-week course for communities who have their HIFIS 4 software set up and configured and want to make sure the changeover and post-launch phase goes smoothly.
Most of the HIFIS 4 Implementation Masterclass is self-directed. We do assume you are working with a team, so self-directed doesn't necessarily mean alone.
Content is released weekly on Monday mornings. We expect that every week, all team members familiarize themselves with the content, then have a team meeting to have relevant discussions about the content. After you've had the team meeting, we assume you will assign action items to each team member, and spend the rest of the week working on those.
Here's an example of what your week might look like:
Some weeks have a live component. For Tier 1 Masterclass participants, these are available as pre-recorded webinars. For Tier 2 and 3 Masterclass participants, you have the ability to schedule these at a time that works for you, but they should occur on specific weeks. Here's an overview:
In addition, you have available an end-of-term check-in after every term. Tier 3 Masterclass participants additionally have 20 hours of one-on-one coaching available to them. Here's how you could choose to utilize those:
