HIFIS 4 Implementation Masterclass

with Ali Ryder

Course Structure

This course is divided into 4 terms, for a total duration of approximately 6 months. It’s a long period of time, but only demands a few hours of your time each week, leaving you plenty of time to meet with your colleagues and work on implementing what you’re learning.

Each term is broken down into sections, and each section contains one or more lessons that are covered over the period of one week. Mostly, these lessons contain content that you can complete at any time during the week, but some sections include a group seminar in which you and the other students in the course can get together for a live, interactive presentation and Q&A.

Planning Your Time

Most of the HIFIS 4 Implementation Masterclass is self-directed. We do assume you are working with a team, so self-directed doesn't necessarily mean alone.

Content is released weekly on Monday mornings. We expect that every week, all team members familiarize themselves with the content, then have a team meeting to have relevant discussions about the content. After you've had the team meeting, we assume you will assign action items to each team member, and spend the rest of the week working on those.

Here's an example of what your week might look like:

  • New content is released Monday morning.
  • You spend Monday and Tuesday reading the materials and watching any relevant videos.
  • On Wednesday morning, you have a team meeting. You discuss the week's topic, and come to a decision about your community's overall approach. Each team member is assigned action items.
  • On Wednesday afternoon, you prepare what you'd like to present to your stakeholders and make a list of questions you need to ask to your HIFIS Advisory Committee.
  • On Thursday, your HIFIS Advisory Committee meets, and you present to them some information that you've learned about this week's content, what you've decided, and ask them the relevant questions.
  • On Friday, based on your HIFIS Advisory Committee's feedback, you are able to complete the homework assignment for the week.

Some weeks have a live component. For Tier 1 Masterclass participants, these are available as pre-recorded webinars. For Tier 2 and 3 Masterclass participants, you have the ability to schedule these at a time that works for you, but they should occur on specific weeks. Here's an overview:
